My mum has wanted a classy, sophisticated fragrance for ages but as you know…. there are so many perfumes to choose from! The mere thought of having to go to a shop selling perfumes and try and pick one from the hundreds made her NOT want to go in the first place. This is where The Perfume Shop comes in…I emailed the PR team for The Perfume Shop with the following info:-

My Mum is in her mid 50’s and she is looking for a grown up, sophisticated scent. She wears all her smart clothes to work and she wants a serious, feminine scent to match. If you have any ideas of a fragrance to match that description…is there any chance you could send me one to review with her?

Well … what can I say…The Perfume Shop are very good at their job! They chose to send my Mum the new Belle D’Opium.. . . . and she loves it! It is just what she is looking for! She says the scent lasts all day and a little goes a long way.  The smell of Belle D’Opium takes her on a trip down memory lane back to the early 1980’s as it reminds her of the original Opium fragrance. She says back then everyone used to wear Opium so the fragrance has stuck in her mind. Plus one of her bosses used to buy it for his wife. Reminiscing about the 80’s has also brought back memories of the fragrance that all the Men used to wear called Paco Rabbane.  Fragrance is such a funny thing. It is amazing how one short sniff of a perfume can send your mind back years. It seems to be able to bring back forgotten memories in an instant.

Belle D’Opium was launched in 2010 and it is a new twist on the classic Opium that was launched back in 1977.

The perfume comes in a stunning deep blue coloured glass bottle with a gold coloured circle design in the middle. Written within the circle is ‘Belle D’Opium’. The bottle has what appears to be a lid … but isn’t. It is actually the spray/ atomiser itself. My Mum thinks the bottle is really pretty and she says it looks very posh on her bathroom shelf! The bottle is very similar to the bottle for the original Opium but the colours are different.

This is how the Belle D’Opium perfume is described on The Perfume Shop website:-

A true Olfactory Manifesto.
An overdose of rare and precious ingredients.
A new Oriental, bewitching and addictive.
With Belle d’Opium, become the source of addiction…

It says that the Heart notes are Casablanca Lily, Jasmine Absolute and Incense

It says that the Top notes are Peach and White Pepper

It says that the Base notes are Resins and Sandalwood

The scent is described as being an Oriental floral with an attractive feel.

The Perfume Shop currently (April 2011) have an offer where you get a free YSL Beauty Pouch and Make-Up when you buy a 50ml or larger bottle of any YSL Women’s fragrance (Excluding gift sets). Even more reason to buy some YSL perfume at The Perfume Shop! Plus you could give someone the perfume as a gift and then treat yourself to the make-up – No-one need ever know! 🙂

Belle D’Opium  is £39.99 for a 30ml bottle, £54.99 for a 50ml bottle and £74.99 for a 90ml bottle. It is an expensive perfume but it smells like it too! Everyone will think you are really posh when you are wearing it. It is worth the money for a quality fragrance that will last you a long time.

The Perfume Shop stock so many wonderful fragrances and they always have great offers on lots of their fragrances. At the time of writing this they have lots of perfumes in their save up to Half Price Sale. The biggest saving I could see in that sale was a whopping £39.01 off the price of a 100ml bottle of women’s Calvin Klein Escape. It is currently selling for £19.99 instead of the RRP of £59.00

I have a good browse through the Perfume Shop website and I found these …Vivaboxes. I love the idea of them. They are a gift box containing 7 sample vials of popular fragrances and a voucher which can be redeemed in one of the 190+ The Perfume Shop stores (but not online) for a full size bottle of one of the 7 perfumes from the box. In the Vivabox For Her 2011 you get sample vials of BOSS Orange, Beyonce Heat, Paco Rabanne Black XS, Giorgio Armani Code, Emporio Armani Diamonds, DKNY Be Delicious EDP, Carolina Herrera 212 VIP. In the Vivabox For Her 2011 , along with the samples and voucher, you also get a free perfume atomiser. The Perfume Shop also do a Vivabox For Him 2011. The Vivabox For Her would make a great Mother’s Day gift (April 3rd 2011) and the Vivabox For Him would make a perfect Father’s Day gift (June 19th 2011). The Vivaboxes are available from The Perfume Shop for £39.99. I think they are such a unique gift idea. What I think is great is that you get the pleasure of giving someone a gift, not just a paper gift voucher, and the recipient gets the fun of deciding which perfume they would most like to use their voucher on.
