I was very lucky to given the opportunity to receive some gorgeous Free Standing Wooden Letters to review from the family run company Big Pops Letter Shop based in Yorkshire. It is such a shame I write this blog anonymously as I would have dearly loved to have had my daughter’s name in these wooden letters but I let my sister choose her choice of word instead. My sister requested the word ‘LOVE’ in free standing letters. She chose to have the letters painted in a metallic sky blue so they would match with her newly decorated bedroom. The letters came at just the right time to complete the revamp! So my sister was really happy.
When the letters arrived they were very carefully packaged in lots of bubblewrap. It took us ages to try and get into the parcel as it had been wrapped that well. It did the trick though – none of the letters got damaged in the post. When we took the letters out my sister was over the moon with them. Sarah from Big Pops Letter Shop had decided to send us 8 inch letters in a font called ‘ number 3’. I had left the decision of size and font up to her, for the purposes of the review. The letters are truly stunning and they take pride of place in my sister’s bedroom. The 8 inch letters are 25mm thick and so they are very solid and chunky. I am pleased to see they are so substantial as they won’t fall over easily.
Big Pops Letter Shop cut all letters to order. This means that there is a little bit longer to wait than if they were just sitting on shelves as stock. They estimate that for Wall Letters or Cursive Letters you may wait from 7-14 working days from the time of order to dispatch and for Free Standing Letters (like the letters sent to me) it may take 14-21 working days.
The ‘LOVE’ letters that my sister received were 8 inch free standing letters so they cost £6.99 per letter. This means with delivery the total cost of the letters is £32.95. It does seem quite expensive but something like this would complete a room. If you were finishing a child’s bedroom with their name, or a nursery with a word like’ family’ then you would willingly pay the money to get the word of your choice to fit in with your colour scheme.
There are many rooms that you can use these letters in. Some examples are as follows:-
- You could have ‘Dream’ on the wall in the bedroom
- You could have ‘Princess’ in a little girl’s room
- You could have ‘Bathroom’ on the door to the bathroom
- You could have a child’s name on their bedroom wall
- You could have ‘Mr and Mrs’ in large freestanding letters for a wedding top table. You must take a look at the wedding letters for more info on these. They are such a fantastic idea. I love their suggestion of getting your guests to sign them. They would make such a superb keepsake.
- You could have ‘BABY’ in large letters and like the ‘wedding letters’ get your family to write a message to the newborn child on them and then display them in their nursery.
- They sell mini 3 inch wedding letters but there are no prices, you have to email for a quote. I think these mini letters would be superb mounted as a name on the front of a child’s scrapbook.
There are so many things you could do with these letters. You just need to use your imagination. If you need some inspiration or ideas then take a look at the Gallery to see lots of examples of customers letters and how they have displayed them.
Sarah at Big Pops Letter Shop is so friendly and helpful and she is more than happy to discuss your ‘letter’ requirements by email. She can be contacted on:- enquiries@bigpopslettershop.co.uk or you can send her an email via the form on their ‘Contact Us’ page.
Delivery charges within mainland UK depend on your order total. If you spend up to £40 the P+P charge is £4.99, from £40.01 to £70 and the cost will be £7.99 and £70.01 or more and the charge is £9.99. All orders are either posted by courier or by Royal Mail. The P+P is quite high but this is to be expected as the letters can be quite heavy and you are also having them sent tracked with a signature needed. (Great for peace of mind..it would be so annoying to have them lost in the post!)
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend Big Pops Letter Shop to you because as it is a family business you get personal customer service from people that genuinely want to make sure you are happy with your purchase. The quality of the letters is fantastic and they really make an impact in a room. I can’t think of anything that would make a better present for a child than their name spelled out in wooden letters.
