I’m not sure who was more delighted to receive a gorgeous box of toy muffins from Jean at Toyjeanius…my daughter or me!¬† I just think the Haba muffins are so delightful. They are recommended for children aged 3 and over and that is because they have small decorative beads stitched on. My daughter is 21 months and she is still a bit too young for them but when I was given the opportunity to receive a product from Toyjeanius I just knew that I’d love to have these little play cakes for my daughter. I’m hoping to build up a collection of play foods for when she is a bit older – so that we can play shop and bakery etc! I’m really looking forward to those days! Good, proper childhood games. . . . plus loads of fun! ūüôā

Firstly I love the name of the website…TOYJEANIUS! Very clever play on words from¬†shop owner JEAN! The website is nice and bright and really easy to navigate. It is a family run business based in Hertfordshire and as parents themselves they know how important it is to sell great products at affordable prices.

The Haba muffins sent to me cost £8.99 for a cake box of 3 pretend muffins. I think this is a reasonable price for a lovely set of play cakes. This means they work out at around about £3 per cake and you get the lovely presentation cake box too. (Which happily for me is adorned with polka dots!)

The muffins are made from fabric and each one comes in a paper cake case. I’ll be honest in saying the cases¬†were destroyed the minute my daughter took the cakes out of the box – she didn’t quite understand at her young age that they were not rubbish to be crumpled up but actually¬†part of the toy. This isn’t a problem though as they are just normal cake cases and can very easily be replaced for when my daughter is old enough to play tea parties properly.

There is a pink cake, a brown cake and a white cake.¬† Or in play cake terms…a rich chocolate cake¬†with a splodge of white buttercream and a chocolate decoration, a light and airy vanilla cake with lots of delightful sprinkles and a strawberry cake with some ornate sugar decorations.¬†DELICIOUS!

The Haba muffins carry the CE mark and they are really well made. I am very impressed with the muffins and I love the fact they come in the presentation cake box as it makes them look all the more special. I would highly recommend the cakes to you and the customer service from Toyjeanius is great. Jean is very helpful and if you have any questions or need some guidance on which toy to buy I’m sure she is happy to help. Jean can be contacted on¬† 0843 2894478 or you can send her an email here.

The delivery cost is quite high at ¬£4.95 per order if you spend under ¬£75 . However¬†if you spend over ¬£75 the delivery is free. To be honest I hardly ever pay nearly ¬£5 for P+P when I shop online as I try to look out for voucher codes for free P+P and I buy from sites with cheaper P+P or permanent free delivery. I think it would be better if the P+P prices were slightly cheaper at Toyjeanius as I would then be more tempted to buy from them more often. I think maybe a set¬†P+P charge for different spend amounts, say if you spend under ¬£20 P+P is …? and then from ¬£20.01 to ¬£40.00 P+P is…?… etc, etc.¬† It’s worth following the Toyjeanius blog as¬†they say they post details of any special offers on there.¬†¬†

I really enjoyed browsing the Toyjeanius website as they have so many gorgeous products for sale. Here are some of my favourites that I would love to buy:- Haba fabric cookies, Haba fabric¬†fried egg in a metal egg case, Haba fabric Petit Fours¬†and Haba magnetic loaf of bread / toast.¬† I love that you can buy so many different types of play food as it is perfect for shop role play, teddy bear picnics and doll’s tea parties. I love toys that encourage my daughter to use her imagination.
If you are looking to buy a special birthday or Christmas present for a child then you must take a look at the Toyjeanius website as I’m sure you will find the perfect gift.¬†¬†

Finally, I’d like to say thank you to Jean for sending the review cakes to my daughter…we will treasure them as the start to our play food collection.
