Christmas Gift Guide For Gin Lovers!

gin lovers christmas gift guideChristmas is just over a month away so it is definitely time to start your Christmas Gift Buying…that’s if you haven’t started already! If you have a friend or family member that loves Gin then you will enjoy reading this gift guide as it is a selection of Gins and Gin-themed gifts that are perfect to buy for gin lovers this Christmas.

The reason I decided to write this Gift Guide for Gin Lovers is because my friend loves Gin but she tends to buy the same gin every time as she is wary about buying a different one in case she doesn’t like it and then she has wasted her money. So this prompted my decision to write this post because I thought if I could get her a selection of different gins to try out then she could be more adventurous when she next orders a G+T at a bar or buys a bottle for home. Plus it it would give me …and you…some ideas of future gin gifts to buy for our friends and family.

I have gifted all of the samples I received to my gin-loving friend and also my brother (as he loves gin too!). I can tell you that they were both very impressed with the gin gifts and they are both looking forward to trying all of the samples they have been sent. I’m not normally a gin drinker however I will definitely be trying a G+T when I go round their houses over Christmas. I need to find out what I’ve been missing out on by not normally drinking gin and tonic!

For the purposes of this gift guide I have been sent press samples of all of the mentioned products so that I could feature them in this ‘Christmas Gift Guide For Gin Lovers‘. The photos and descriptions used are from the Gin websites and all prices are correct at the time of writing this post but are subject to change. Also P+P charges may apply when ordering from some of the websites.

colonsay gin

In 2016 Finlay and Eileen Geekie moved to the tiny, remote Hebridean island of Colonsay to start their new business – Wild Thyme Spirits. Since moving to the Isle of Colonsay they have created Colonsay Gin and they have also started a Gin Lover’s Retreat.

Colonsay Gin takes its inspiration from a mixture of Celtic folklore and the natural Hebridean beauty of the island. Their Gin is hand-made in small batches of 160 bottles to a recipe that is closely guarded by their special helper, ALVA, a delightful, red-haired maiden, who lives at the home of Wild Thyme Spirits – Tigh na Uruisg – which means Home of the Spirit.

Gin Description:- A small batch, hand-made, premium Scottish Gin, in the style of a classic London Dry Gin, slightly stronger at 47% ABV to accentuate the full flavour of the botanicals that they use which consistently produce a fantastic, juniper led, premium quality gin. Made with a simple but robust selection of botanicals including juniper, Angelica Root, Calamus Root, and Coriander, Colonsay Gin is bottled at 47% ABV, making it a good choice for cocktails and mixed drinks.

colonsay gin art print

You can buy a limited edition Giclee fine art print of Colonsay Gin branding on 300gsm smooth art paper, mounted on art board ready for framing. There are 50 available and each print is numbered 1/50 – 50/50.

I was sent a limited edition Colonsay Gin Art Poster but as they no longer have these available my suggestion to you as a Christmas Gift Idea would be either an unframed or framed art print.

“In Celtic folklore every house had a Brownie or Spirit, or in Gaelic, an Uruisg {oor-isk} to help with household chores.  ALVA is a delightful, red-haired maiden, a very special Brownie with supernatural powers, a Gruagach {groo-ah-gak}. Long, long ago she somehow survived when her Viking long boat crashed on Colonsay’s unforgiving rocks. She stumbled ashore and took shelter at Tigh na Uruisg {tee-na-oor-isk}, or Home of the Spirit, where she remains to this day. She uses all her powers to protect her secret recipes from those desperate to know. With an alchemist’s touch she transforms humble botanicals into gin”

The Strane Gin sample was sent to me by Robert Ransom who is the UK importer of Strane.
